The Bird D'Pot

Last Wednesday we had a soft rain all day. I didn't think it would be a good day for birds, but I was wrong.

This is the first time I've seen a Western Kingbird enjoying the feeders.

And the first time the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher came this close sto the house.

The Upland Sandpipers are still here and enjoying a nice mud puddle. Bath time.

A damp Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

Even Mr. and Mrs soaking wet Cardinal showed up.

Turned out to be a productive day.

  2. That takes some doing Betty. Getting the whole tail of the Scissor-tailed in the frame. Nice to see Upland Sandpiper again - I saw one on the isles of Scilly UK, many years ago.

  3. Super day indeed! This is such a great time for birding, isn't it? I'm jealous of the upland sandpipers sticking around so long. Here, they show up & are gone all too soon.

Thanks, Betty, for sharing this with us at I'd Rather B Birdin.

  5. Quite an assortment of birds, but those two with the mud puddle are precious!

  6. What great birds - sometimes I think that the rain makes the birds look even better than normal.

  9. Interesting post, all birds that I do not know other than the odd glimpse when we visited the USA and Nevis. Have a good week, Diane

  11. You got pictures of some birds I can only hope to photograph! Great job. (I have 'caught' cardinals several times -- and one time only one picture of a kingbird a -- nd a few bad ones of hummers, but the other birds I can't even imagine catching that beautifully.
