Down Riverton Road

I am currently editing my second novel, Down Riverton Road. This is a mock-up of the proposed book cover. Does it pique your interest? Do you want to read what it's about? Does it feel mysterious?

Blackthorne Cove

I'm happy to say my debut novel has been getting wonderful reviews—all 5 stars as of today. Of course, this is always subject to change at any moment. Some of the reviews are from people I know, others I don't. I appreciate each review and each star. Thank you very much. If you would like to get a copy, it is available through Amazon. Saturday Critters

Instead of taking a long vacation this year, we decided to see other areas in Oklahoma. After all, we do live here. Last weekend, we went to the The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge near Indiahoma, OK. It's in the western part of the state.

When I was about to give up on seeing a buffalo, this big boy emerged from a herd of cattle. Of course, when I had the opportunity for the best shots, he decided it was time to evacuate yesterday's food. If you know what I mean. So, had to wait until he was finished to get this pic with a truck in the background. Oh well, at least I got to see one. :)

Of course, we took Gus with us. He likes to travel, too. He was happy to see this prairie dog. He wears a bark collar due to his propensity for barking at anything and everything, so he didn't bark. He did wag his tail and squeak. In case you are wondering, the bark collar only sounds a tone when he barks once, and vibrates if he barks again. It doesn't have the shock capability.

We made a stop at Holy City of the Wichita's, which is inside the reserve, and got to see some awesome buildings. This is a shot of the church. Holy City was built in 1934, as a replica of the holy land. We saw Pilate's judgment hall, Herod's Court, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Lord's Supper building.

A play presented near Christmas, tells the story of Jesus from his birth through resurrection. The play has been presented every year for the past 90 years.

Black Bear Diner

On a recent trip into the city, Oklahoma City, we stopped for brunch at Black Bear Diner. It was a day for new experiences, so we decided to give this place a try. The exterior was inviting. Reminded me of a lodge.

The interior was inviting. This is only one room. There is another equally as big.

Enjoyed seeing these bears swinging from the ceiling.

On the south side of the building, there is a large bear holding a huge welcome sign. Easily seen from the street.

I like the humor.

Another fun group.

The food was delicious!

Looking forward to a return visit. Next time, I think I'll try one of their yummy looking deserts. And, I might stop by their gift shop for a bear mug or two.

Weekend Roundup - L

This week's assignment: Starts with L, Favorite, and Landscape

Starts with L: LIGHTHOUSE starts with L. This replica is located on the shore of LAKE Hefner in Oklahoma City, OK.

Favorite: My favorite? A horse of course. This is Reba in the foreground and LIZZY in the background.

Landscape: I found this picturesque LANDSCAPE in western Oklahoma. It is part of the Wichita Mountains.

Weekend Roundup - K

In case anyone is wondering, Blackthorne Cove, my first novel, is doing very well. So far every review has 5 stars on Amazon. I'm surprised, but pleased. I've received a lot of good feedback, which keeps me editing novel #2. Now on to Weekend Roundup.

This week's assignment is Starts with K, Favorite, and Kind.

Starts with K: KAYAK starts with K. Found this man enjoying a beautiful day on a lake in the Wichita Mountains.

Favorite: I found another favorite horse picture. This is KEMOSABE, my friend.

Kind: Being KIND to one another. I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine.

Happy Weekend!

Weekend Roundup - J

This week's assignment: Starts with J, Favorite, and Jewel.

Starts with J: This is my friend JUBE. He likes nose rubs, neck scratches, carrots, and his favorite—apples.

Favorite: Other than horses, birds are my favorite critter to photograph. This is a dark-eyed JUNCO sitting on the fence.

Jewel: Diamonds are a girl's best friend, or so 'they' say. This is the most treasured JEWEL in my JEWELRY box. Grandson Adam gave it to me when he was a little feller. I think it cost him a whole nickel. He might have been a little disappointed when the bubble gum machine didn't give him something more manly, but he was excited to give it to me. I still have this beautiful ring and it remains my favorite diamond ever.

Hope you are having a marvelous weekend!
