Meadowlark & Crow

Hubby gave me a new camera for Christmas. I had a Canon SX50 and now I have the SX70. I think the 50 takes better pictures in low light, but I'll give the new one a chance. These are from the 70.

I haven't found many birds the last couple of weeks, but did see this Meadowlark sitting on a fence post...

...and Mr. Crow hanging out in a dead tree.

Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy 2019.

Critter Day - Marilyn

Our friends have a cow named Marilyn. Marilyn had a baby Christmas Eve. No name yet, but isn't she cute? Mama seems to like her, too.

This is Rusty. He will grow into a big, bad bull one day. He likes hay.

Along with his hay, he enjoys a few pets and pats from his food man.

Weekend Roundup - Z

Today's assignment: A word with a Z, Favorite, and ZZZ as in sleepy.

A Word with a Z: ZERO has a Z. ZERO as in One-ZERO-Three. Anyone who follows racing even a little bit has heard of Steve Asmussen. He had several horses in the final races of the season at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. This photo was taken as he won his 103rd race of the year. The number 103 contains a ZERO.

A Favorite. This horse was my favorite in one of the races. I actually made a $2.00 bet for him to win and he did. The number 10 also contains a ZERO.

ZZZ as in sleepy: This is Gus catching a few ZZZ's after a long day of patrolling the perimeter in search of a critters to bark at.

A Word with a Y: A Yellow-Rumped Warbler.

Favorite: Sunset through my kitchen window.

The Weekend Roundup - X

This week's prompts: Starts with X, Favorite, and looks like X.

A Word with an X: Hubs and I spent some time exploring Wyoming again this year. We like Chris LeDoux, so we made a point of going through Kaycee, WY to visit the park dedicated to him. LeDoux, contains the letter X.

Favorite: This is a quilt my mother made many years ago, which is why it is a favorite. Looks like a lot of X's to me.

Looks like X: This strange looking teepee without the covering resembles an X. It is located at a rest area in South Dakota.

Saturday Critters

Alpaca or Llama? I don't know how to tell them apart. Was a bit surprised to see them on a ranch where I normally see cattle and horses.

The Weekend Roundup - W

I'm back. Been out of town yet again. Looking forward to seeing what everyone posts in this week's roundup. Hope I have the right letter. Now that would be embarrassing wouldn't it?

This weeks prompts: Starts with W, Favorite, and Weather.

Starts with W: WAGON WHEEL starts with W. This one graces the corner of our porch. That is the early morning sun peeking through.

Favorite: This is an old house that sits on top of a hill. I have about a million pictures of it. The view out the back is truly beautiful. Since there are no WINDOW panes, it is easy to see through to the other side. I would like to buy this house and bring it back to its original beauty. Sadly, not bad enough to actually take on the project.

Weather: On this particularly lovely summer day, the WEATHER was a little scary. Fortunately, the storm passed us by.

Just Because: Love dragonflies and this WIDOW Skimmer is a common variety down by the pond.

And Finally: This Great Egret was WADING in the WATER as the WIND ruffled his feathers.
