It's Bird Day

I was so happy to see the hummingbirds were back, I failed to notice this was not the usual ruby-throated variety. In fact, turns out to be a black-chinned hummingbird. According to my bird book, they are not normally in eastern Oklahoma. I first spotted him on April 15th.

When the ruby-throated hummingbirds came, the black-throated disappeared. I guess he was only here due to migration.

    1. Ps...I think it's black thinned (instead of throated?)

  6. Great photos!
We have the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds here, but they seem to know if I have my camera with me. No camera, I can walk right up to them at the feeders. Camera in hand, they fly away fast!
