I haven't been to an auction in years, but went to one today. A rancher had sold his house and property and chose to auction ranching equipment and two horses.
This is a palomino going for a test drive.
This is our friend watching the test drive and planning his bid.
This is the horse just before the auction started. He was nervous, obviously sensing something was going on.
While he was being ridden, his lady friend was upset, snorting, and pacing. She is a Fleabit Roan. Yes, I asked and was told that's the proper name for this white horse with brown flecks.
She was a beauty. She was sold first.
Our friend won the bidding contest. The palomino was loaded up and ready to go see his new home.
He is being turned loose in a section fenced off from the other horses. Nice shady pen.
Here he is getting acquainted with the other horses and Socks, the mule.
It was hot, but turned out to be a fun day. Now there is a new horse to win over with carrots and apples.

...lovely horse country!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful horses! But I am a little sad that the two horses could not be sold together.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a horse. It was kept in a community pen. I know how horses can have pecking orders and how it is hard on a new horse to enter an existing group. That's a beautiful palomino. Glad your friend was able to successful in the bid. - Margy
ReplyDeleteStop in from Biebkriebels. When I was young I use to ride and show my horse Taurus.
ReplyDeleteNice looking horse.
If you have time stop by for a cup of coffee
Beautiful horses!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous horses...a fun day, I bet. Feel so bad for the farmers though.
ReplyDeleteHi Betty,
ReplyDeletethank you for your visit and your reaction.
I see really beautiful horses here.
Beautiful colors and also beautiful in construction.
Moreover, you have photographed them beautifully.
Kind regards, Helma
How wonderful for the horses to be getting new homes and making new friends. I kind of felt sorry for the two best friends being split up, but in human life the same thing happens and we move on. Enjoy your week~
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting event with a good outcome; the horse got a good home and you'll have more great photo ops! Interesting -- and odd -- that 'fleabit roan ' is really the name of a variety of horse! She was pretty too, but I like the one your friend purchased the best.
ReplyDeleteI know next to nothing about horses - but these look good!
