Weekend Roundup - P

This week's assignment: Starts with P, Favorite, and Paper.

Starts with PPretty in PINK. On one of our backroad rambles, I found this beauty in an overgrown fence row. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but it sure was beautiful all decked out in blooms.

Favorite: Meet PATRON. He is not only a handsome fella, but a real sweetheart.

Paper: This is one of the many books I have read over my lifetime. It's pages are made of PAPER! The bookmark is a souvenir Granddaughter brought me from Europe. And, lucky me, it also has PINK roses. :)

Springtime in Oklahoma

One of my favorite things to do on a beautiful spring day, is to take a drive down the backroads. On this particular day, I was on the lookout for blooms. I don't know what kind of trees/bushes/flowers these are, but I found each of them worthy of a picture.

Daffodils blowing in the wind.

I do know this is Wisteria.

We stopped on a bridge to take in the beauty of new leaves and this colorful stream with the sky and trees reflected in the water. We enjoyed the quiet, broken only by an occasional bird.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead!

The Weekend Roundup - O

This week's assignment: Starts with O, Favorite, and Old.

Starts with O: This OVEN is located on the grounds of Fort Washita. It was built far away from the buildings to keep from heating the kitchen during the hot OKLAHOMA summers.

What was very OLD is partially new again.

Favorite: Well, ya'll knew a horse would be in this post somewhere. This picture was taken during a recent visit to Oaklawn racetrack in Hot Springs, AR. This horse was a winner.

Old: This is a very old sign located at the exit to Ouachita National Forest. It is near Hot Springs, AR. Hubs took me to the lake where his grandfather proposed to his wife. It's a beautiful area.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup - N

This week's assignment: Starts with N, Favorite, and Number

Starts with N: NOSE begins with N. Aw, NOSE kisses.

Favorite: One of our favorite things to do is drive by to check on the Eagles. This is Mrs. Eagle keeping watch over her eaglet in the NEST. This is the third year we have seen them.

Number: This mare is branded with the number 54 for identification purposes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup - M

This week's assignment: Starts with M, Favorite, and Metal.

Starts with M: MALLARD starts with M. MEET MRS. MALLARD.

Favorite: And, of course, MARE works out just fine for my favorite M. Love this little lady in the front.

Metal: This METAL sculpture graces the main street in Hot Springs, AR. I think it was in front of an eclectic museum—ghosts and such. This is a drive by shooting. I took it from the passenger seat of Hub's truck, through the driver's side window, as we were driving down the street. Barely got it before it was too late.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup - L

This week's assignment: Starts with L, Favorite, and Landscape.

Starts with L: During our trip to Hot Springs, AR, it rained on Sunday, so we took a drive around the LAKE. Sure looked pretty with the mist in the background.

Favorite: This LITTLE LADY sure has LONG LEGS.

Landscape: Foothills of the Wichita Mountains in Southwestern Oklahoma.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup - K

This week's assignment: Starts with K, Favorite, Kind.

Starts with K: KITTY starts with K. This psychedelic KITTY graced the window of The Grass Shack Dispensary. No I wasn't visiting, merely parked in front of the store while waiting on Hubs to purchase lunch in the Whataburger next door. :)

These KITTIES are barn cats kept to keep the mice and rats to a minimum. They are not friendly. They run when I get too close.

Favorite: Critters are always a favorite of mine. Two KIDS were enjoying a milk snack, while a third is having a nap.

Kind: So I bet you thought I skipped posting a horse this week. Nope. This little lady has KIND eyes and a KIND face. She is a sweetheart.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup - I and J

This weeks assignment is 'J': Starts with J, Favorite, and Jewel. However, I missed last week which was 'I': Starts with I, Favorite, and Insect. So, I'm doubling up—yet again!

Starts with I: ICE starts with I. This looks like snow-covered ground, but in reality it is a layer of freezing rain and sleet. Mr. White-throated Sparrow looks cold, while waiting for his turn at the feeders.

Starts with J: JOCKEY starts with J. Last weekend, we enjoyed a mini-vacation in Hot Springs, AR. Of course, we had to go to Oaklawn racetrack while we were there. This is my pick to win the first race. Winner! Winner!

Favorite I: Below you will see my pick taking the lead. Also, in the background, notice all the tents set up in the INFIELD. There were a few people braving the misty day to enjoy drinks, food and the band.

Favorite J: I wanted to post my favorite picture of JUBE (a horse, of course), but I posted him for 'H' week. Instead I chose to post a bird, which is my other favorite critter. This is an early morning shot of a dark-eyed JUNCO sitting on the fence.

Insect: On February 19, 2022, while enjoying a balmy day on the back porch, this lovely INSECT floated by. Needless to say, I was a little surprised to see a butterfly in mid-February—even in Oklahoma.

Jewell: This is a picture of a light fixture in my daughter's basement. Looks like JEWELS  to me.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Weekend Roundup - H

This week's assignment: Starts with H, Favorite, and Hat.

Start's with H: While enjoying the warm day on the back porch last weekend, I saw a Sulphur Butterfly floating by. This week, it's 19° with freezing rain and sleet. The birds have almost finished off a huge bag of bird seed. This HARRIS'S Sparrow is waiting his turn at the feeder. I took the picture through two layers of glass. I wasn't about to open the door and let the frigid air in. :)

Favorite: What did you expect for my favorite post for H week? A HORSE, of course. :) This is Jube, who has since been sold. He was a favorite of mine. Miss him.

Hat: This is my HAT. HUBBY had it made for me by his HATMAKER friend in Noble, OK. He has made HATS for such notables as Charlie Daniels (who ordered one for each of his band members every Christmas), both presidents Bush, and Steven Tyler, to name a few. It even has my name inside in gold letters.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup - G

This week's assignment: Starts with G, Favorite, and Glass.

Starts with G: GNOME starts with G. I found this little GUY tossed aside in a cart destined for burial. He was cast aside due to having suffered an injury which resulted in a missing leg. I rescued the poor little fella. He made the perfect addition to our tree last Christmas.

Favorite: GRETA and Chica. Two beauties! Greta is also gray.

Glass: This huge GLASS of tea is from our visit to Rhee Drummond's Mercantile in Pawhuska, OK. The food was reasonably priced and very good. But the tea really hit the spot after a walk around town.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

The Weekend Roundup - D,E, & F

I'm Late! Excuse: I've been writing and editing to meet a deadline.

This week's assignment will encompass D, E, & F.

Starts with D: Took a drive up to Pawhuska, OK for a visit to Rhee DRUMMOND'S Mercantile to shop and have lunch. This beauty was parked outside.

Starts with E: Willa the mule's EYE starts with E.

Starts with F: FOAL starts with F. Isn't she a beauty?

Favorites:

DUN: This is a DUN mare and mother-to-be. Can't wait to see her foal.

EAGLE: The EAGLES are back in their nest. This is the third year in a row since we discovered them. Hope they keep coming back. I love seeing them.

FLEABIT ROAN: Another beautiful mother-to-be. Wonder what her baby will look like.

Dawn: No words needed.

Elephant: Taken through the window during a wedding. The couple were from India.

Fast: Not only is the song fast, but so is the tree falling.

Have a great weekend!
