I pass by a pond every time I go in to town by way of the back roads. I was happy to see this Great Egret perched on a dead tree, so stopped and took several pictures.
On the way back, the Egret was still there, so took a few more pics. I didn't see the Blue Heron until I uploaded the pics to my computer. He was camouflaged beside the dead tree limbs.
It was also a Bobwhite Quail kind of day. I have only seen them on the ground, so was happy to see this one perched on a fence post.
A little farther down the road, I saw this guy.
These Black Vultures look like they belong in this dead tree.

Hi Betty. I do like that BobWhite Quail. It's a handsome creature. And you're right, the vultures look as if they belong in a Western adventure movie just waiting for the `dead bodies after a shoot out.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sightings and photos!
ReplyDeleteSome great avian company!
ReplyDeleteI love the egret in profile on the branch. I don't know if I've noticed a quail before. Those vultures are up to no good.
ReplyDeleteBetty - terrific pictures - I especially like the quail - so precious! Thanks for your recent visit to my blog. September is a good month to visit Montana - the larches and aspens will be in full color, but no snow yet (Hopefully).
ReplyDeleteAll so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
