Meadowlarks are plentiful around here. I only saw them on occasion in Illinois, but here in Oklahoma they are all around us. I first spotted these two on the wire behind out house.
This one was in a tree beside the road.
This guy was standing on a weed in the pasture beside our driveway. He posed quite a while before flying away.
I so like your Meadowlark Betty. We don't have anything quite the same in England , and I am rather jealous that we don't. That last photo is especially striking in showing the birds' salient points.
Oh, lucky you to get all these photos. They are out at the strip pit area but are very, very shy. We had them down home, and they were not near so scared of people. These are wonderful.
There is an area where Eastern and Western Meadowlarks are found together. They are basically indistinguishable from each other, unless you hear them sing. I wonder whether both species are found where you are.
Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI have seen Meadowlarks only once or twice here in Mississippi.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
