Do you have Red-winged Blackbirds in your area? I could be far off the mark here, but it might possibly be a female Red-winged Blackbird. The females in no way resemble the males. Maybe Eileen at Saturday's Critters or Anni at I'd Rather B Birdin' will know for sure Have a wonderful day!
...oh dear! This barn or do I say former barn sure has seen better times. I see it's cousins around here. Let's hope that the horses keep their distance. Thanks Betty for stopping by, how about coming again!
Beautiful shots! I thought the bird looked like a type of sparrow but I see other commenters have identified it as a dickcissel, such a pretty little bird.
Beautiful places, and, the horses standing free. I love the bird, but I don't know the name, maybe it is a something like finch?
ReplyDeleteI looked through my bird book, but didn't find a match.

Have a wonderful day!
This pic was in Oklahoma. The females we have here in Illinois are plain, more like a sparrow. I'm still searching, but no luck. Thanks.
DeleteLooks like maybe a white throated sparrow??
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking in with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend!
Thanks. It does look sparrow-like. I'll see if there is one of these in my book.

ReplyDeleteHi Betty. That was a difficult one but I think it's a Dickcissel - Spiza americana.

that barn is not long for this world, it would be nice to get some of the wood!!
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet looking bird, i see you had some help identifying it!!
That is a sad old barn! I recognize the Dickcissel as it is a common summer resident in the prairies near our second home in Illinois.
ReplyDeleteI think the bird is a female dickcissel...look up dickcissel and go to All About Birds then scroll to the bottom and look at female dickcissel.
ReplyDeleteLove the horses and barns.
It looks like some sort of sparrow. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteThe poor barn looks like it is going to collapse any time. Beautiful horses and birds.
ReplyDeleteThat barn doesn't look like it will be standing for much longer.

ReplyDeletethat barn will not last long anymore, beautiful with the horses.
