Weekend Roundup - X

Tom says, "Next Week's Prompts Starts with "X." A Favorite. Your Choice. "X is a tough one."

Tom knew what he was talking about when he said "X is a tough one". It sure is! But I eventually managed to come up with a post.

X: Xray. DC's right hand after he de-gloved it in a printing press.

A Favorite: Not necessarily a favorite shot, but it sure is one of my favorite grands.

My Choice: The letter X. As seen on these barn doors.

No words beginning with X here, but there is an X. These graffiti ridden rocks are along I-35 in either OK or TX, can't remember which. We pulled off for a scenic overlook and this is what we found. I usually consider graffiti art, but not here. Don't mess with nature.

No words beginning with X here either, but my favorite X is on this cup. This cup was a gift from a friend when I moved away after living so many years in Texas.

Thanks for hosting Tom!

The Bird D'pot

Wonder if anyone could help me with the first bird. I can't seem to identify this one. I thought perhaps a Grasshopper Sparrow, but the description mentions a yellow spot over the eye and I don't see one here. What do you think?

We have lots of juvenile Bluebirds. They were hatched in the ends of the pipe fence around the yard. Didn't look like a good spot to me, but seems to have worked out well.

The dreaded Brown-headed Cowbirds have arrived. Not a fan of these birds.

Male

Female

I'm enjoying the hummingbirds. This one likes to sit and stare at me when I'm reading on the porch. Not sure if he wants me to go away or if he's simply curious.

Saturday Critters

Green Bottle Fly - I'm not a fan of the flies, but this one looks nice against his floral background.

I have no idea what kind of critter this is, but he looks prehistoric!

Geese enjoying the pond in the park.

And finally, this is Smoke, a blue heeler. He was a little hot so dug himself a nice cool hole in the ground under a horse trailer. Whatever works!

The Weekend Roundup - W

This week's prompts: Starts with "W", A Favorite, and Water.

Starts with W: On our last trip to South Dakota, we stopped at Wall Drugs. I caught my husband propositioning this Woman of the night. Fortunately, he came to his senses before she grabbed the cash. :)

A Favorite: My favorite hamburger is a Whataburger. Yum!

Water: This is a small lake in Custer State Park, South Dakota. It was a hot day, so people were enjoying the water.

Just because: This is Apple Cinnamon Moonshine Whisky. Potent and tasty!

A'ter a shot of Whiskey, one might need these After Drinkin' Mints.

And Finally: This wheel and several others grace our porch. Beautiful misty sunrise on this particular morning.

Thanks for hosting Tom!

Nice evening for a cool drink of water.

Little Things Thursday

I'm always trying to capture the beauty of the morning sun, but always fail. It is much more beautiful than my camera can replicate. This was my view from the front porch while enjoying my morning coffee today.

On my morning walk, I passed some wildflowers, or as a friend described them, ditch flowers. Love that term. It fits since most of mine are found in ditches.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Saturday Critters

This deer was all alone down near the trees by the back pond. I took this shot through the kitchen window he/she was at least 1/4 mile away. It was busy eating and making sure no predator lurked nearby. Looking forward...

... and then behind...

...before he/she continued grazing.

Mr. Cardinal found a tasty morsel.

Three turtles and six geese.

Mr. Blue Heron kept me company at the park in Ada.

As did these domestic geese.

Weekend Roundup - V

Today's prompt is: V, a Favorite, and Violet.

V = Weather Vane

A Favorite = Talented ladies playing Violins.

Violet - Violet covered wagon.

Just Because = Bird Vetch

And Finally = A Vineyard

Oh wait! Can't have a V post without including a picture of my favorite car, a Volkswagon. Lots of fond memories in my dad's '64 VW Bug. Although green is my favorite color, ours was red. One summer 9 of us took it to the fair. It was a tight squeeze. And no, my dad didn't know. :)
