Chicory is a plant with edible leaves, roots and flowers. When roasted and ground, it is a popular coffee substitute. Have you been to New Orleans and tried their chicory blend coffee? I have and am not particularly fond of the bitter taste. However, I drink coffee black and it may not be as bad had I used sugar and cream.

...chicory is doing its thing here too.
ReplyDeleteIt's common, but sure is pretty.
DeleteI did live in Louisiana but I was only a teenager so coffee wasn't my thing yet. Your chicory photos are beautiful. My point and shoot camera doesn't do an even decent job with chicory!
ReplyDeleteA former coworker from Louisiana always brought chicory coffee to work. I guess it's an acquired taste. :)
DeleteHow pretty. I know it's common but it sure is a delight to see!
ReplyDeleteThose blooms always make me smile. Love the color.
DeleteChicory decorates the roadsides here in Kentucky. Pretty blue flowers.
ReplyDeleteChicory is everywhere. Gorgeous flower. As for the coffee substitute if I never taste it again it will be too soon!
ReplyDeleteLovely flower!
ReplyDeleteI love chicory. I would love to grow some, but it seems one would have to dig out a plant from a roadside. I have not seen the seeds for sale. You have wonderful photos of this blue dainty beauty.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flower!
ReplyDeleteI remember that my grandmother used to drink chicory coffee and it was mixed with some kind of grain product, but I never tried it.
