Hill City

Still November 2, 2016
We arrived in Hill City, SD around noon.  It's a very small town. The population was 948 as of the 2010 census. It is known as the "Heart of the Hills" because of its close proximity to both the geographical center of the Black Hills and the local tourist destinations. Below is the downtown street.

We enjoyed seeing the art on the downtown street. Ninja turtles?
I like the way the evening sun turned this horse golden.

Unfortunately, we didn't have time to ride the train. This 1880 vintage steam train provides a two-hour, 20 mile roundtrip, ride between Hill City and Keystone. This is on my list for the next time we visit.

Before we left, we made a stop at Prairie Berry Winery for a few bottles of Red Ass Rhubarb. A favorite of ours.

Next stop Mount Rushmore.
